Girls Hockey

The early weeks saw Turi play in fixtures against Pembroke, Banda and Hillcrest. The U13 girls fought hard in drought-like conditions down in Gilgil and were unlucky to lose a close match 1 nil. At Banda, they made lots of chances through creative play by captain, Chrystal Oduk.  Forwards Sanchia Obi and Kale Mwatsahu ran the opposition defence ragged, but Turi need to practice finishing and the final score was another loss, 2-1 to The Banda. The girls put things right the next day, beating Hillcrest 3 nil in an exciting game, dominated by Evie Clarke’s epic performance in goal.

The U11 girls have experienced a frustrating start to the season. In every match they have peppered the opposition’s goal, but failed to put the ball in the back of the net! Hera Olweny and Gabriella Udoto are fast, skillful and imaginative. Natalie Njoroge is the mid-field dynamo. Surely the goals will come in our next few fixtures against Greensteds and Pembroke. The current tally is 2 losses and a draw.
